Internet Is Fun 
The hard part of doing something online with friends is never finding a game. It is finding one where nobody has to install anything, nobody has to make an account, and nobody has to buy a copy so the rest of you can play.
So everything here passes three tests: one person creates a room, everyone else joins with a link, and it is free for all of you.
Works with four people on a call
- Skribbl.io β draw and guess. The simplest one to explain to people who do not play games, which matters more than it sounds.
- Gartic Phone β telephone, except everyone draws. Reliably the funniest outcome of the lot, and it produces a shareable flipbook at the end.

Head to head
- Lichess β hit βplay a friendβ, send the link. Free, no account, no ads, and better than the paid alternatives.
- Tetr.io β competitive stacking. Brutal against strangers, good fun against someone at your level.
- Agar.io and Slither.io β you can share a server. More chaotic than strategic, which is sometimes exactly right.
The Wikipedia race
Genuinely the best free group game on the internet and it costs nothing to run. Everyone opens the same starting article, agrees a target, and races there using only links inside the pages. First to arrive wins.
The Wiki Game in the weird websites collection automates the scoring, or just agree two articles in the chat and go. If you want to understand why this is so absorbing, we wrote about that.
Compare results instead of competing
This is the low-effort option when people are half-watching something else. Everyone takes the same quiz, then posts what they got.
It works because every result here has its own link β sending it shows people the outcome you got rather than the start of the quiz. The sixteen-type one has enough outcomes that a group of four usually gets four different answers, and the browser tab one reliably starts an argument.
The calculators work the same way β everyone runs the screen time one and compares numbers, which nobody enjoys.
Send each other things
Not a game, but it is what most group chats actually do. The surprise button gives a different random page every time β send three and see which one lands. Or work through the useless buttons collection together, which takes about ten minutes and is better shared than alone.
What we left out
Jackbox, Among Us, Codenames-with-an-app and most party-game bundles are genuinely good β but somebody has to buy them or install something, which breaks the rule this list is built on.
